Jullundur Club has witnessed the evolution of the City and epitomises the best that the City, Jullundur later named as Jalandhar, is known for.
The death of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1839 threw Punjab into
disorder. After their victory in the first Anglo Sikh War, the British took over Jullundur Doab. Jullundur Garrison was established by British in 1865 for controlling the Western Areas till Peshawar. On the Eastern Side of
The Mall of the garrison, the coolest grove of trees was selected and Jullundur Club was established on 27 Oct 1909. The Jalandhar Club was inaugurated by, the then Stn Cdr, Maj Gen CH Powell, CB . Prior to independence, Jalandhar
Military Club was patronized by the British Army for social interaction and recreation. The club premises is one of the oldest standing building of the British Era in Jalandhar. The first secretary of the club was Maj D Archer.
The club houses a huge cricket ground, which was also used as a parade ground by the British troops.
